INTRODUCTION

Blades edge is a first person Adventure based in a mild fantasy setting with medieval themes. The main character is a middle aged man with skills of a sword and bow. The main character is employed as a freelancing assassin, he goes from town to town getting paid to kill, or steal objects for people. His skills eventually lead him to kill someone who he sees as an old friend inside the kings keep. This event then thrusts the main character into the civil war ravaging the country as the king employs him into the army. He then begins to do missions to kill major fighters in the rebel army. This leads to meeting new people that can give him information that he can use to complete his missions. 

WORLD

FACTIONS

In the world of 'Blade's Edge' there are two factions fighting for control of the nation, the empire ruled by the king and queen. Their opposition is the rebellion that wants to ensure the removal of the king and monarchy and install diplomacy. The rebellion is lead by a smart cunning man.

RELIGION

GOD OF WEALTH

This God is seen to bring good fortune upon those who ask. Worshiped by both the rich and poor. The place of worship usually contains large amounts of silver and gold decorations while the patrons/priests wear gold cloaks.

GOD OF WAR

Seen as a God of great strength and wisdom this God's worshipers often fight in battle and are there to seek advice on a battle. The temples to this God are crude buildings that can contain charts and weapons of war. The patrons of this God always carry their Gods signature weapon of the bladed hammer and wear some of the best steel armour in the country.

THE SHADOWS

o   This is a religious organisation that worship shadows and the darkness. The members receive rankings and prestige among themselves according to their ability’s as a shadow soldier. Most commoners know little about them and even fewer nobles know more than of their existence. They are often mistaken for the cult, God of Darkness.

GOD OF THE COMMONER

o   Known for the ability to heal those who are sick and helps those who are in need, this God is worshiped mainly by the commoner and very few nobles. Their priests often were normal clothing with a small iron brooch, or clothing with the Gods emblem stitched onto it. The places of worship are often made of stone or wood.

GOD OF THE SKY

 This god is responsible for rain, the environment and living creatures. Almost all people worship this God and they mostly pray for good harvest or safe travels. The Temples are usually found on top of hills with an open roof, the priest of the temples often ware blue or green attire.

 

CULTS

GOD OF DARKNESS

The worshipers of this cults wear dark clothing. They believe that to offer flesh as a sacrifice is noble and will help them with the next life. Worshipers are compelled to give up limbs for sins and the bigger the sin the more valuable the limb that is needed as a sacrifice.

 GOD OF PROSPERITY

They believe that you should have no worldly possessions and they ask you to give them all your non essentials so they can dispose of them, except they keep the items for their own wealth.

GAME-PLAY

MECHANICS

  • free flowing parkour

  • the use of the environment to create multiple ways of completing a mission

  • all have jobs, daily routines
  • as the player there are specialized ways of preforming take-downs.

NPC BEHAVIOR

LOYALTY SYSTEM

NPCs have loyalty counters to each faction allowing for the ability to turn villages against local lords and factions. Loyalty will change according to a number of factors:

  • the availability of food
  • taxes/ and tax rate
  • the amount of crime in the city
  • the publics opinion of the leaders.

If a local lord is killed a new one will take over.

SOCIAL SYSTEM

The player can become friends with NPC characters, this can result in:

  • lower costs for upgrades
  • more information when on missions.

Bad relationships will result in:

  • high costs in upgrades and trades
  • deep hatred can result in a bounty hunter hired to kill you
  • NPC's not wanting to give up information to you about mission targets.
